Law of Attraction vs. Law of Assumption: Are They the Same Thing? A Simple Explanation

Introduction

Is the Law of Attraction the same as the Law of Assumption? Are they different? As you begin your spiritual journey, you’re likely to come across those two terms. Here, I hope to give clarity to these two spiritual practices. Let’s figure this out, once and for all.

Law of Attraction

The Law of Attraction is a spiritual law that says that the energy you put into the universe can attract the experience that you’re currently living in. This energy is created by the thoughts, and feelings you have in your daily life. This Law states that positivity, and “good vibes” will create more favorable experiences, while negativity will create unfavorable experiences.

You can literally create the events and experiences you want in your life. Yes, you’re that powerful. I wrote a small introduction to this subject that talks about how you can actively shift your perspective in order to attract more lovely experiences in your life.

People who promote the Law of Attraction use tools like visualization to promote a positive mindset shift in their mind. They also have more of an emphasis on gratitude, which is considered one of the highest positive vibrations.

Law of Assumption

On the other hand, the Law of Assumption is a specific kind of tool to attract those favorable or unfavorable events into your life. It states when you assume something to be true, are absolutely true. The things that you believe are false, are false. The observer (you!) literally decides what is true or false, real or not real. In a way, you’re creating a self-fulfilling prophecy.

This specific Law has less emphasis on your feelings, and focuses more on your internal dialogue. You can practice this Law by using affirmations, which can be written down, and viewed everyday or simply just repeat the affirmation internally in your mind. This Law requires you to be more aware of the thoughts running through your mind, so it is important to practice mindfulness regularly. This is how your current assumptions, including more subconscious ones, will begin to show themselves in your mind. This is super useful because then, you’ll be able to release current negative assumptions, and allow space for better positive assumptions to take its place. This will then create your reality!

Are They The Same Thing?

No, the Law of Attraction is not the same as the Law of Assumption. But it’s a bit more complicated than that. These two Laws both recognize the power of the subconscious, and it’s ability to create reality. The subconscious mind plays a major role in how we shape the world around us, despite our inability to perceive it. These Laws take advantage of this ever-present & powerful mind.

The Law of Attraction uses feeling as the tool that creates energy which corresponds to our outward experience. On the other hand, the Law of Assumption is specific way to practice the Law of Attraction. Although not directly dealing with emotions, the act of repeating affirmations and correcting the less favorable assumptions, will indirectly lead to more positive feelings, and therefore attract a new reality. The main difference between these two laws is how you start the process of manifesting. One begins with positive feeling -> better thoughts -> better reality is attracted, while the other is better thoughts -> positive feelings -> better outcome. In this sense, they are the same thing. At the end of the day, they will yield the same results.

An easy way to implement both of these Laws is to place pleasant, and uplifting messages around your space.
